Thinking of the 2018 VW Passat GTI? Check out its’ latest review from Auto Week!
A proclaimed, “family sized GTI,” the 2018 Passat offers a much less expensive alternative to the SEL Premium, coming in around $5,000 less! With its sharp looks, sporty styling including a spoiler, and “piano black” interior with features such as unique stitching patterns in the seats and steering wheel, and GT badges throughout, the GTI is a fun vehicle for anyone!

“The Passat is a 192-inch family sedan, with requisite space inside and footprint outside, yet this model has enough pluck to satiate your car nerd cravings. The 3.6-liter narrow-angled V6 makes as much as 280 naturally aspirated hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. Combined with one of the better dual-clutch transmissions in the business, you’re never wanting for power.”

We don’t know about you, but nothing says “Volkswagen” to us quite like the iconic VW Beetle. We are so sad to hear of the news, that VW will be phasing out the model by 2022. In it’s place, the I.D. Buzz will be it’s “heritage” vehicle.
According to Forbes, “When the VW board met last November, VW’s Welsch told the enthusiast magazine that it approved a plan for up to 30 electric vehicles in the next ten years, but there was no support for a new Beetle in that mix. Sales have been sluggish and enthusiasm for the design was thin inside the company and among dealers.”
The Beetle has been redesigned and re-launched a number of times over the years, starting with the “New Beetle” in 1997 after sales and enthusiasm dropped after the 70’s. That one was discontinued in 2011 to be replaced with the “Beetle” designed to appeal a little more to men with it’s less bulbous appearance. Alas, the hype just hasn’t been there for a while now, and VW feels it’s time to say goodbye.
We’re just hoping it’s just a “see you later.”
